RS Refine Resin Gauge Rings Install

Overnight parts from Japan.

It's a sentence most car guys know, and it is super exciting when it actually happens. My order from REV9 was not exactly overnight, but it was from Japan.

The contents of the order? A set of RS Refine Resin Gauge Rings for my 1990 Mazda Miata. Upon opening the box one can see the care taken in creating and packing the final product.

We start by removing the 32 year old plastic gauge hood from the car. Remove the 2 Phillips screws at the bottom, and pray it doesn't crumble to pieces. Gave the hood a gentle tug, and it came out almost intact. Only the retaining clips suffered as a casualty.

Once the gauge cluster is out of the car, remove the OE Clear lens using a heat gun and some prying.

Remove the factory chrome rings, give the new gauge rings a test fit.

The Polycarbonate lenses get glued into the gauge rings prior to installation (I used a little bit of E6000 Glue). After some drying time the rings with lenses can be installed onto the gauge cluster. Last but not least, the updated gauges get installed back into the car!
